Sam Trevena

Sam Trevena, Client Manager for Harland Accountants in Falmouth, St Austell, Helston, and Newquay

Sam is a Client Manager and Chartered Accountant who joined Harland in early 2025 and now oversees our Helston office. Cornish born and bred, he works closely with clients to provide clear, insightful financial guidance that supports confident decision-making and long-term growth.

After studying Chemistry at the University of Bath, Sam spent time working as a manager at Iceland before moving into accountancy and joining the graduate scheme at PKF Francis Clark in Truro. He progressed through the firm while qualifying as a Chartered Accountant, later specialising in the medical sector. Sam brings strong experience in enhanced management accounts and enjoys getting under the bonnet of the numbers, helping clients uncover insight they may not have realised was there.

Outside of work, Sam is rarely still. He plays football for local team Praze FC, supports Manchester United, and spends much of his time running the coast path or climbing outside along Cornwall’s cliffs. He has taken part in the EnduranceLife Classic Quarter on more than one occasion, tackling the challenging coastal route from the Lizard to Land’s End as part of a team. When he’s not outdoors, he’s enjoying family life with his baby daughter and their two cats.

Get to know Sam a little better …

Are you a spender or a saver?
A sensible saver most of the time… but I’m very capable of convincing myself that running kit, climbing gear or a weekend away is a sensible purchase.

How do you like to relax?
Anything outdoors really. Running the coast path, climbing on the cliffs or a game of football. If not, switching off at home with my family does the trick.

If money and time was no object, what would you be doing right now?
Somewhere coastal with decent weather, good coffee and plenty of space to run and climb. No schedule, no alarms, just seeing where the day goes.

Who do you follow on social media?
A mix of football, running and outdoor adventure accounts. There’s plenty of Manchester United content, along with people like Alex Honnold and Jonny Wilkinson, plus a few runners and climbers who make the Cornish coast look even more tempting.

Who is someone you admire or respect?
My parents, first and foremost, for keeping things grounded and leading by example. Outside of that, people like Gareth Southgate, Marcus Rashford and Ben Fogle. All very different, but all calm, values-led and good at balancing hard work with enjoying life.

And finally … how can a client butter-you-up?
Turn up organised, be open to a proper conversation and ask good questions. Bonus points for decent coffee and a sense of humour.
