David Harland

David Harland, Director, Harland Accountants in Falmouth, St Austell, Helston, and Newquay

David is the owner of Harland Accountants and has spent more than 25 years helping organisations navigate growth, change and complex strategic decisions.

Alongside leading Harland, David has built a career that extends far beyond accountancy. He has held executive leadership roles across healthcare, tourism, education and social impact organisations, bringing a unique blend of commercial, financial and strategic experience to the businesses he supports.

David is currently Chief Executive Officer of The Lost Gardens of Heligan, one of Cornwall’s most celebrated visitor attractions. Prior to this, he served as Chief Executive of Eden Project International and Interim Group CEO of the Eden Project, where he led major organisational change, international expansion projects and long-term strategic development. Across his career, David has led organisations with national and international reach, giving him first-hand experience of the opportunities and challenges that come with leadership, growth and transformation.

His career has also included senior leadership and board roles with Royal Botanic Gardens Victoria in Australia, Cornwall Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, Falmouth University and a number of charitable, public sector and commercial organisations.

As both a Chartered Accountant and experienced chief executive, David brings a rare perspective to business advice. He understands not only the numbers behind an organisation, but also the realities of leadership, investment, governance and long-term decision-making.

At Harland, David works closely with ambitious, purpose-led business owners who want their accountant to be a trusted sounding board as well as a technical expert. His focus is helping clients build resilient, profitable organisations that create lasting value for their people, customers and communities.

Outside work, David is a keen cricket fan and badminton player, and remains passionate about Cornwall’s business community and the role businesses can play in creating positive change.
