Martyn olver
Martyn is Harland’s go-to expert for tax advice. For individuals facing Capital Gains Tax, disposing of UK residential property, or those needing specialist tax planning advice, Martyn is down-to-earth but extremely knowledgable and will give you peace of mind that you are never over paying your tax bill.
Based in St Austell but working across our Falmouth and Newquay offices too, Martyn has been with Harland since 2001 when he joined straight out of college. After working his way up through the ranks, he is now our Technical Director and prides himself on the long established relationships he has with many clients, some of which span over 20 years.

Get to know Martyn a little better …
Are you a spender or a saver?
A bit of both! I try not to waste money and I would always save for something rather than get a loan. So I guess I’m a considered spender.
How do you like to relax?
I go to the gym 5 or 6 times a week, I love watching action films, and spending time with family and friends.
If money and time was no object, what would you be doing right now?
I’m really into Formula-1 racing and support Ferrari, so I would definitely follow it around the World in-person for a season.
Who do you follow on social media?
Mainly sports accounts, like Liverpool FC
Who is someone you admire or respect?
I really admire SAS and military people, as well as any sports people who have reached the top of their game, such as Michael Schumacher or Ayrton Senna.
And finally … how can a client butter-you-up?
Haha, they can’t! But I do also like chocolates and anything sweet.
