At Harlands nothing makes us prouder than celebrating our teams’ achievements and success stories, and as such we are thrilled to announce that our Accounts Assistant Grace Gordon is a finalist for the Cornwall Apprentice of the Year Awards 2025 in the accountancy category! Since joining us in 2023 Grace has become an integral part of our team, working hard to meet our client’s needs and smashing her AAT exams so far. This nomination is well deserved and it’s no surprise to us that she has made it through to the finals with a chance to be Cornwall’s accounting apprentice of the year.
About the Cornwall Apprentice of the Year Awards
The annual Cornwall Apprenticeship Awards are run by Truro and Penwith college to celebrate the achievements of apprentices and the dedication of employers and training providers across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. The 2025 edition of these awards received more than 140 nominations across 18 categories, reportedly the highest number ever, with 49 apprentices making it through to the final. The 18 categories include a wide range of sectors, from construction to healthcare, and most importantly of all, accountancy!
The glitzy awards ceremony is to be held at the Eden Project on 07 February 2025, bringing together industry leaders, apprentices, and educators to celebrate Cornwall’s apprenticeship success stories.
Apprenticeship Excellence
It is no surprise to anyone at Harlands that Grace has made it through to the finals with a great chance to be named Cornwall’s top accountancy apprentice. After finishing her A-levels at Truro and Penwith College, Grace joined the Harland’s team in 2023 as an apprentice accounts assistant. Since then, she has impressed us all with her diligent and accurate work, her willingness to learn and take on new challenges, and her friendly and easy-going nature.
Grace has taken on responsibility for completing payrolls, book-keeping and end of year accounts preparation. She has quickly developed a strong rapport with our client base and within the Harlands team, and has gone the extra mile by contributing to projects such as applying for and manging our efforts to achieve the Healthy Cornwall Award, helping to organise our team social events, and taking on the responsibility for completing our company secretarial work. She’s also achieved stellar results whilst studying for her AAT Level 2 qualification, including test scores of 96% and 99%, expertly balancing her responsibilities in the office with studying for her qualifications.
Good Luck for the Finals!
We’d like to wish Grace the best of luck for Cornwall’s apprentice of the year finals on 07 February 2025, your achievements so far reflect out team’s commitment to excellence and continuous learning, and we’d love to see you take home the prestigious award. Good luck Grace!
